Airport

International airport

Symbol of national identity and modern technology

Concept and philosophy
Located on the territory of 103 hectareshe international airport has become an embodiment of the harmony of Uzbekistan's traditions and modern architecture. The project was developed jointly with the Dutch company NACOThis has allowed us to combine cutting-edge engineering solutions with national motifs.

A pattern-inspired airport landscape girihThe bird's-eye view is a key component of the concept. From a bird's eye view, passengers see traditional patterns reflecting Uzbekistan's rich history. These elements symbolise the connection between cultural heritage and the modern world.

Architectural features
The airport building is constructed using three main materials:

  • Glass for facades, creating visual lightness and maximising natural light.
  • Metalwhich gives the structure strength and a sleek, modern look.
  • Fibre concrete - white composite material widely used in airport construction, symbolising clean lines and modernity.

The façade of the building is complemented by national ornament motifs integrated into the structural framework, emphasising its cultural uniqueness.

Landscape architecture
The landscape around the building plays an important role in creating a comfortable environment:

  • Girih patterns are applied to pedestrian areas, park paths and squares.
  • Green spacesincluding trees and flower beds, soften the appearance of the airport and help regulate the microclimate by reducing temperatures in the hotter months.
  • Artificial ponds around the building add to the aesthetics, create coolness and enhance the connection with nature.

All these elements together create the feeling of an urban oasis that welcomes passengers with cosiness and cultural identity.

Technological and environmental solutions

  • Landscape and architecture provide natural ventilationThis improves the microclimate for passengers and employees.
  • Energy-efficient facades made of glass and fibre concrete reduce energy consumption by reflecting the sun's heat.

National identity
The airport project symbolises modern Uzbekistan, a country opening up to the world but retaining its unique identity. Landscape and architectural concepts emphasise tradition and hospitality, creating a first impression for arriving passengers.
